CABEC Member of the Year 2007
Beth Brummitt 2007 Member of The YearCABEC is pleased to announce that Beth Brummitt is CABEC's Member of the Year for 2007!
Beth Brummitt is the principal of Brummitt Energy Associates, Inc, a consulting firm located in San Diego, California, specializing in energy modeling for high performance buildings. A Certified Energy Analyst, a Certified Energy Manager, a USGBC-LEED Accredited Professional since 2002, and with twenty years of experience in energy efficiency and building modeling, Brummitt has been speaking, training, and writing articles for a variety of groups on energy efficiency, the Title 24 energy code, and green buildings for many years.
After serving on the CABEC board for two years, Brummitt served as Chair in 1995. She headed the Compliance Alliance effort between CABEC, the CEC, and building officials. While actively supporting CABEC, she coordinated regional meetings, strengthened membership, taught a number of T24 training courses for residential and non-residential, reviewed and recommended standard improvements, and testified at the CEC.
She has Chaired several other organizations as well, including the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), was the founding Chair of the San Diego Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and is a graduate of LEAD San Diego. She holds a B.A. from Stanford University.
Her interest in reducing the causes of climate change has led her firm to focus on energy modeling for high performance buildings, usually 15% to 40% better than T24. Consulting from early design through construction documentation, the firm specializes in energy and daylight modeling, increasing financial incentives, and documentation for Title 24, LEEDª and CHPS. They have assisted more than five dozen teams in their pursuit and achievement of LEED buildings, from Certified through Platinum.
When the work day is finished, Beth enjoys playing piano, heading to the beach with her husband Bob, and dreams of more kayak camping trips in Baja.
