At this time certification is not required of those preparing Title 24 compliance documents. However, we encourage those doing Title 24 work to educate themselves about the "Code" (Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations) by attending classes (see link to CEPE classes and exams) and taking an exam to become certified as a Certified Energy Plans Examiner (CEPE). This Certification demonstrates to others that you understand what is required to achieve compliance with California’s Energy Efficiency Standards, and can proficiently perform calculations. CABEC Members receive the advantage of the ongoing support and ongoing educational opportunities in the energy compliance field.
CABEC also provides a higher level of Certification, called a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA), which requires a minimum of 1 year of work experience doing Title 24 calculations, as well as a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education in the field.
