Kim Coolbaugh CABEC Administrator 9974 Scripps Ranch Blvd. #130 San Diego, CA 92131 To all at CABEC: I received the 2007 Scholarship from CABEC and just wanted to say thanks again, and show some of the stuff I have been working on. (With your help) every little bit certainly helps and makes the financial crunch a little more bearable.During the course of my studies lately I have been taking mainly architecture classes focused on sustainable design and interdisciplinary design build projects. This class is taken with Construction Managers, Structural Engineers, and Architects. We collaborate in our respective fields and complete a comprehensive proposal for a design build project. Our project was a building on campus that is currently condemned and we were asked to find ways to "fix it" from a design and sustainability standpoint. Some of the pictures are attached.Another class I had was primarily focused on architectural design. We were given a site in Eugene, Oregon with a program of a Recreational Center, Community Center, and a space for the farmers market. My concept for that design is attached as well. I have taken many classes that involve many calculations and math as well. The are not so exciting to show you, but they are important as you know in developing a vocabulary and method to designing buildings that meet certain guidelines.I would like to thank you all again for this opportunity to further my education and look forward to maybe working in the energy field in the future. I also thought that a little glimpse into what you are helping us do would be an encouragement to help others. Thank you,Tyler Denio Cal Poly San Luis Obispo |
